Philippe Close

Following a law degree, Philippe Close chose to work in politics. In 2000, he became Elio Di Rupo’s spokesperson before joining the team of Freddy Thielemans, Mayor of the City of Brussels, as Head of Cabinet.
In 2006, he won a seat in the municipal elections, and later became Alderman of Staff and Tourism, and responsible for the finances of the City. In 2009, Philippe became a member of Parliament of the Brussels Capital Region. In June 2017, he was appointed Mayor of the City of Brussels, and following elections in October 2018, re-elected for 6 years.
