Hayrettin Güngör worked as the General Director of Vocational Services and Deputy Undersecretary at the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in 2016-2017. Between 2008-2018, he worked as the Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. He was appointed as a Member of the Presidency Local Government Policies Board with the Presidential Decree dated October 9, 2018.
Güngör was elected as Mayor of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality in the Local Elections on March 31, 2019.
