Elected as Mayor in 2021, Asmaa Rhlalou has a strong background in journalism, having served as editor of the daily newspaper l’Opinion's Economic Desk since 1997. She began her political career in the Istiqlal Party in 1997 before joining the National Council of the National Rally of Independents, and was elected as an RNI deputy during the legislative period 2016-2021.
